The rules here are essentially the same as those on the General Discussion Board on the DC Forums, but I am typing them out here for posterity, with some added suggestions to help keep things civil and make sure we don’t get our butts shut down. :P Please familiarize yourself with this post! 1. Respect Other Users.
Treat others the way you would like to be treated, and attack the opinion, not the poster! Remember that everybody has an opinion, everyone has had experiences, and that those opinions and experiences may or may not be the same as your own. All are welcome to share their opinions here; please remember to discuss people’s beliefs and opinions with respect, especially the very deeply personal ones such as religion or lack thereof. That said…
2. Be Prepared to Debate in the Debates Forum!
If you post your opinion in the debates forum, there WILL be other users there who will disagree with you and challenge your opinion. By posting in the Debates forum, you acknowledge this, and will not attack others for respectfully disagreeing with, asking about, or challenging your opinions (and remember that you are allowed to respectfully disagree, ask about, or challenge theirs in return). If you feel like someone is being rude to you, report the post and a mod will evaluate and take care of it.
3. Regarding Sexual, Violent or Disturbing Content…
A. Discussion of sexual education and the generals of sex and reproduction in humans, other animals, fungi, plants, etc. is permitted; do not get obscene or explicit in your descriptions of such things. DO NOT POST OR LINK TO PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES OR IMAGES OF NUDITY (which could be construed as pornographic), DRAWN OR OTHERWISE.
B. It is okay to discuss violence, war, abuse, etc. and the ramifications thereof. Do not directly post violent pictures or stories on the board and do not link to anything excessively gory.
C. If you are posting or linking to something potentially disturbing or triggering to people, post a warning either at the top of your post or next to your link detailing what you are discussing/linking to so that others who do not wish to see such things know to avoid it.
D. If you’re unsure if something is appropriate for the forum, feel free to PM a mod and ask to be sure!
4. Do Not Post Links to Download Copyrighted Content.
No links to Warez sites, torrent sites, Youtube MP3 downloaders, etc.
5. No spamming!
That means no posting threads for advertising anything. Threads for products you sell or endorse, websites you run, books you wrote, etc. are not allowed. If you’d like to put a link to your website or Etsy account or DeviantART account or other such things in your signature, that is fine, but do not make threads for them.
If there are other issues that need to be addressed, I’ll update the rules and suggestions as necessary. If you have any suggestions for additions to these, you may suggest them in the suggestions/requests forum.
